News about the Convention - dated February 18

Dear friends and Contortion fans,

In the meantime we have been having of course some developments and a lot of activities in connection with our ICC project. We have been having inquiries and registrations from contortion fans and lovers worldwide, only wanting to mention a few like the US, Japan, Australia, Canada, Austria, Italy, England and of course Germany. All those people have expressed their strong interest in the ICC and in the idea as such.

We are extremely happy that also many active contortionists have shown their interest and promised to try and join us on occasion of this outstanding event, such as TUNGA and her Ensemble and the very creative ROSE ZONE. Gerd Rasquin will bring two or three of his acrobats from the HAMBURGER SHOWSTERNCHEN ensemble.

BRIGITTE and RENE SELIGER from the Artisten-Centrum Coswig will present their young new talents, and SHOWBIZ/Cologne will bring out two brandnew contortion acts, Josephine B. and Dali-da, which have been developed over the last year and will have their worldwide premiere during the ICC´98.

Both acts have been developed, created and produced by SKA with Brigitte Seligers devoted input as a wonderful coach. The contortion act JOSEPHINE B. is an hommage to the great Josephine Baker with costumes and choreography designed and produced in Las Vegas, NV. And like with all SHOWBIZ/Cologne productions also the lift acrobatic and contortion act DALI-DA has a theme: In this case Salvadore Dali the painter and genius of our times had to stand idea for this act with costumes with handpainted motives a la Dali.

As everybody can see we all will be enjoying a lot of contortion at the ICC.

Registration: All people interested in registering are required to fill in the registration form which can be obtained through SHOWBIZ/Cologne or on the attachment of our website. Please consider that the ICC team has to plan and organize this event far in advance. With the current status it seems that we will have to make more hotel reservations as originally planned. So please make sure that your registration and bookings come in early enough. Within the next few days we will try and work out the approximate schedule for each day of the convention. So please stay with us and check our regular updates. Please be aware though that our schedules will be subject to short term changes if needed.

Sightseeing: We have been having quite a considerable interest in sightseeing trips within and around Dresden. For everyone who would like to join in, we will arrange the following tours:

  • A general tour around the city of Dresden including the Brühlschen Terassen, the Zwinger and the Grüne Gewölbe which are a must and nobody should be missing whilst visiting this beautiful city.
  • A tour to the famous porcelain factory in the city of Meissen.
  • A trip to the castle Moritzburg build by the legendary King August the Strongone.

An extra fee of DM 20,-- will be charged for each of these trips.

Workshops:The workshops have the aim to create and workout a showconcept for the evening show on May 2 including all contortionists present..This should be a very exciting task for both, the artists as well as the coaches.

Dear friends: As you can see, your ICC team is doing its best to make sure that the convention is going to be the most interesting, most enjoyable and fascinating event possible. Do not forget though, that this is the first event ever of such a kind and that therefore the success of this project will also strongly depend on the enthusiasm, the personal input and motivation of each and every participant present at the ICC.

Your ICC -Team

Ska, Brigitte and Gerd
