( April 15, 2009 ) - International Contortion Convention 2009 Jeunesse Previous post Next post

Today it is a great pleasure for us to introduce the coaches and Jury members of the ICC Jeunesse 2009 to you

Gerd Rasquin

One of the most famous contortion coaches of the last 35 years - but also very successful in coaching gymnastics and sportsacrobats on national level. His "Showsternchen" group is based in Hamburg/Germany.

Some personal words from Ska:

Gerd has not only been my friend for more than 15 years, but in many ways he has also been my mentor and supporter of my work and endeavors throughout the years. His knowledge of every aspect in training, not only contortion, but also various other sports such as gymnastics is vast and a never ending inspiration to me. I admire him also for his social engagement for less fortunate families, by giving them and their children new aspects  and self confidence in their lives. His work has produced numerous outstanding contortion artists, only to mention IVANKA ! Thanks for everything, Gerd

Betsy Shuttleworth

Owner/Director of Dance Extensions Performing Arts Center in

Canonsburg, Pennsylvania *** Instructor of Acro, Ballet, Pointe’, Jazz, Tumbling, and Lyrical for ages 3 & up *** Contortion Trainer

Some personal words from Ska:

When I met Betsy in 2005, I was immediately attracted by her strong and creative approach to the art of contortion as much as by her kind and sweet personality and the way she works with her students.

Over the years Betsy has undertaken every effort to become specialized as a coach for contortion. The combination of her background in dance and choreography has made her work in training and producing contortion shows as special as it is now.

I do not only consider her as one of my dearest friends, but also have the greatest respect for her and her professional work.

David Fox

Some personal words from Ska:

When I started to put the first International Contortion Convention together in 1998, David and I first met on the ICC Internet chat. I knew then already, that I was about to meet the most enthusiastic, most knowledgeable and loyal person to join us in our new and exciting first event. I was right. The input David has brought to this event then and every ICC to follow was and is outstanding. Each time he brought one of his students with him to show and prove his high standards as a trainer and enthusiast of the art.

David is also the kind person to stand behind our beautiful ICC medals, which he has been sponsering towards the recent events. I cannot thank him enough for his friendship, his loyalty and serene support over all these years.
